This article applies to:

D1 and D1 Pro with all laser modules.

Issue Description

When you are using the machine to process, you may hear unusual noises from the movement of the parts. This may affect the processing outcome. If you experience this, please check the source of the sound by following the steps below and troubleshoot.

#1 Check the Motor and Connection Cable

  1. Check if the noise is from the X-axis or Y-axis motor, or from the movement on the X-axis or Y-axis gantry.
  2. Check if the X-axis and Y-axis motor cables are broken.
If yes, please replace the broken cable.
If not, please replace the faulty motor on the X-axis or Y-axis gantry.

#2 Check the Coupling

If the laser module moves properly on the X-axis gantry but makes a crashing/grinding sound on the Y-axis direction, please adjust the shaft coupling to keep a proper distance from the motor, as shown in the photo below.

#3 Check the Focus Distance

Use the focus lever to adjust the distance between the laser head and the material to avoid contact according to this video.

#4 Check the Table Surface

If the machine is placed on an uneven surface, it may make noise during processing. To avoid this, please make sure that the machine is placed on a flat, level surface.

#5 Check the Guiding Rail

Check if there are foreign objects on the X-axis and Y-axis guiding rail, and if the guiding rail is rusty.
If yes, please maintain the guiding rail according to this video.

#6 Check the Timing Pulley

Reposition the timing pulley to 5mm from the end of the motor shaft.

Note: If the X-axis or Y-axis timing pulley is in contact with the frame, the motor will make noise during movement due to interference with the structure.

#7 Check the Installation

Make sure all the plates and screws are installed properly according to the video below.

If None of the Above Works

If you have followed the instructions above and the issue is still not resolved, please read the article in the link below, collect the troubleshooting steps you have taken, and contact xTool tech support for further advice.
