Troubleshoot the "Air pump current exception" for xTool P2
Issue Description
If you have P2 connected to XCS when the malfunction happens, you may see a pop-up error message: "Air pump current exception".
If the machine is in process at this time, it will automatically stop.
Please export the Work log when this error occurs. Send it along with the status of the machine to customer support for analysis.
Note:
Please refer to the video tutorial below to remove the rear plate and rear upper cover of P2, and to check whether the air pump works properly:
#1 Upgrade the Software and the Firmware
#2 Check the Air Tube for Leakage
-
Please connect P2 with a USB connection cable.
-
Open the browser and input the following link and hit enter in the address bar to control the air pump to operate at maximum power: http://201.234.3.1:8080/cnc/cmd?cmd=M15S255&force=1
-
Check the air tube for breakage (including the part in the drag chain).
-
Check the connector of the air tube for looseness leading to leakage.
-
Check the airflow of the nozzle if none of the above works. If the air pump is working but there is no airflow from the air nozzle or only little airflow coming out, it could be that the air tube at the outlet of the air pump is broken or disconnected.
#3 Check the Air Tube for Obstruction
#4 Check the UI board
-
Please remove the right upper cover of P2 according to the video tutorial below: https://support.xtool.com/hc/en-us/articles/15573121892887-Remove-the-Casing-of-the-xTool-P2-Laser-Engraver
- Please connect P2 with a USB connection cable.
-
Open your browser, input the following link, and hit enter in the address bar to control the air pump to operate with the maximum power: http://201.234.3.1:8080/cnc/cmd?cmd=M15S255&force=1
-
If you have a multimeter, you can use the multimeter to detect the voltage of the port of the UI board which is connecting the air pump.
- The normal voltage is about 24V. If the voltage difference is large, it is possible that the port may have been damaged, and the UI board needs to be replaced.
- If you do not have a multimeter, you can observe the UI board for any burnt components due to short-circuit. Take photos and send them to customer support for analysis.
#5 Check the Air Pump
-
Please connect P2 with a USB connection cable when the air pump is making noticeable noise and vibration when working.
-
Open the browser, input the following address separately, and hit enter in the address bar to control the air pump:
-
Turn on the air pump: http://201.234.3.1:8080/cnc/cmd?cmd=M15S255&force=1
-
Turn off the air pump: http://201.234.3.1:8080/cnc/cmd?cmd=M15S0&force=1
-
-
Judge whether the air pump is working properly from the vibration or the sound during P2 work.
-
If the air pump stops working but the UI board operates properly, the air pump may be damaged. Please have the air pump replaced.
