Troubleshoot Laserbox Error Code Qx14 3
Issue Description
Error Code 'Qx14 3': Laser Module Homing Failure
The Qx14 3 error code indicates that the laser module failed to return to its original position. (When the machine is turned on or the job is finished, the laser head will go back to the original position in the Z/Y/X axis sequence). If you see a pop-up notification with this error code, please refer to the steps below to troubleshoot the issue.
#1 Check the Firmware Version
Connect the machine to the software.
The computer should be connected to the Internet.
Check if the firmware is up-to-date as shown in the picture below.
If the issue persists after updating, please move on to the next step.
#2 Check the Z-axis Adapter Cable
Check whether the two Z-axis adapter cables are broken or bent upwards
-
If yes, please refer to the video to replace the Z-axis adapter cable.
-
If not, please move on to the next step.
#3 Check the Z-axis Gantry
Remove the front cover of the laser head when the machine is turned off. Rotate the Z-axis motor threaded rod by hand, and check whether the laser head can be moved from the highest to the lowest position by rotating the threaded rod (as shown below). This is to ensure that the laser head can move flexibly from the upper to the lower side.
-
If the threaded rod doesn't rotate properly, check for dirt on the rod or on the gantry;
-
If it rotates properly, please continue.
#4 Check the Motor
Connect the machine.
Press Ctrl+F1 on the keyboard to enter the debugging interface below.
Command+F1 for Mac, add the Fn key if it does not work.
Click [Z+] and [Z-] to observe whether the laser module can move smoothly on the X-axis.
-
If not, please turn off the machine.
-
Unplug and replug the X motor cable again as shown in the picture below.
-
If the issue persists after rebooting, please replace the Z motor cable, motor, and motherboard one by one.
-
If the laser module can move properly, please move on to the next step.
#5 Replug the Z-Axis Limit Sensor Cable
Turn off the machine.
Unplug and replug the Z-limit switch cable as shown in the left picture below.
Use a cotton swab with alcohol to wipe the sensor of the limit switch as shown in the right picture below.
Restart the machine to observe whether the issue is solved.
If not, please move on to the next step.
#6 Check the Status of the Limit Switch
Remove the Z-axis motor cables when the machine is on (as shown below).
Put a small piece of iron in the sensing position of the limit switch.
-
If the red indicator is on when the iron sheet is placed as shown in the left picture below and goes off when the iron sheet is removed as shown in the right picture below, please replace the Z-axis connecting cable, the Z-axis limiter, the Z-axis adapter plate, and the motherboard one by one.
-
If the indicator does not change at all when the iron sheet is inserted and removed, please replace the Z limit switch.
If the issue persists, please move the laser module to the center of the Z-axis with the power off.
Take a video of the Z-axis reset after power on, and provide it to the after-sales technical support for further analysis.
