The Engraved Image is Wavy
This article applies to:
D1 and D1 Pro with all laser modules.
Issue Description
When you engrave something, you may find the results different from what it's supposed to be. For example, the machine engraves a wavy or distorted line when it's supposed to be straight. If so, please follow the instructions below to troubleshoot. Check if the issue happens to either the X or the Y-axis.
For X-Axis
#1 Check the X-Axis Belt
1. Check the tightness of the belt and make sure the tension is set properly.
2. For detailed steps, please refer to this video:
Adjust the Tightness of the Timing Belts [Video]
#2 Check the X-Axis Rail
1. Check if there is any obstacle or wear down on the gantry rail.
2. Remove the obstacle from and/or apply the lubricating grease to the rail.
3. For maintenance steps, please refer to this video: Lubricate the Guiding Rail [Video]
4. If the rail is damaged, you may need to replace it.
#3 Check the Z-Axis Plate
1. Check if the plate is loose.
2. Adjust the tightness of the plate. Please refer to this video:
Adjust the Z-axis Plate Tightness [Video]
3. If the plate is damaged, contact tech support for advice.
#4 Check the Z-Axis Plate Wheels
1. Check if the wheels (U-shaped bearings) are loose.
2. If the wheels are damaged or wrong in size, please contact tech support for advice.
For Y-Axis
#1 Check the Y-Axis Belts
1. Check the tightness of the belts on both the left and right plates of the machine frame.
2. Usually, the left belt is fixed, while the right belt may need some extra adjustments.
3. Please refer to this video: Adjust the Tightness of the Timing Belts [Video]
#2 Check the Y-Axis Rails
1. Check if there is any obstacle or wear down on both rails.
2. Remove the obstacle from and/or apply the lubricating grease to the rails.
3. For maintenance steps, please refer to this video: Lubricate the Guiding Rail [Video]
4. If the rails are damaged, you may need to replace them.
#3 Check the Drive Shaft
1. Check if the drive shaft (aka the optical shaft) is bent or damaged.
2. If so, it may need to be replaced. Please contact tech support for advice.
3. If not, check if the coupler is tightened properly and see if the two ends of the shaft are in place.
